behind the lens
Hi, my name is Abi, and I am the face behind Idyl Photography. Technically I should say I started photography in highschool with my first digital camera, the Canon Rebel T3i, but I like to say that photography really started for me in 2020 when I bought my Nikon. Nursing school bridged the gap between those two cameras and kept me pretty busy, but finding photography again has brought so much happiness to my soul. Creating images that make people happy, images that you constantly want to go back and look through, is why I love what I do. Time truly flies and sometimes things are forgotten, or before you know it a whole chapter in life is closed. Creating these galleries that are filled with so much love and intention means that those moments never have to be forgotten and can be relived every time you scroll through your gallery. I feel this so personally and find so much happiness in old polaroids from when my husband Austin and I first met or old videos from our first ski trip together or the film pictures we have on our crazy month long drive from Florida to Alaska. Pictures for me are true escapes to moments we weren’t ready to let go of but time didn’t allow otherwise.
a cinematic influence
I style, shoot, and edit my photos as an ode to the greatest stories ever told. I love the nostalgia of a cinematic grain, and the arch of the story as you view the gallery from start to finish.
A window to the soul
Photos, like art or journaling, are an intimate space for your story to be told. My photos are embedded with sentimental symbols, inside jokes, and snippets of the people and things you keep closest to your soul.
A life of adventure
Adventure and storytelling, to me, are one in the same. When we step out of our comfort zone and explore somewhere new, we explore new parts about ourselves, too. These all become part of our grand story.
A life of adventure
Florida For now
It feels like my husband Austin and I are always on the go. We live an adventurous lifestyle both when it comes to travel and staying close to home. We love any activity that gets us outside, experiencing something new, and living in the moment. Photo sessions outside in nature are so cathartic to me and feel very much free and easy.
This love of adventure has only grown after spending three years living in Kodiak, AK. During that time, we were so fortunate to be able to embrace a truly remote lifestyle. While we love being home, we also love to spend any extra time we can find on vacation exploring new places with family and friends.
I would LOVE to travel to you for our next session. These are some of the locations I am most excited to visit:
Europe
Miami, Florida
Oregon
California
Hawaii
Iceland
take the adventure home with you

I take a particularly intentional approach to the co-curation of our session. When you inquire, you will complete a brief questionnaire to help us get off to a good start. From there we will share an open discourse via email and phone calls to prepare for your session, wedding, or elopement. Follow the link below to begin.
Travel & information
I currently live in Pensacola, FL and travel to locations both within the US and abroad. If you catch me in a city I am already visiting, I can oftentimes discount session rates or travel fees to thank you for making the most of my trip! Keep an eye out for travel dates on my Instagram.

My name is Abi, the photographer behind IDYL Photo, and I photograph life and love. To me, styling a photo is like creating a collage: every detail in the frame is an opportunity to tell one more part of your story. I can't wait to see the story we craft together.
