Zack & Ana Lucia
My husband and I have spent the last three years on a remote island in Alaska. While Kodiak is not as remote as some islands, it is very set apart from any other city I have lived. The town is largely a fishing town with a mixture of Coast Guard (us), transient workers, and locals. The hikes are endless and the views are quite literally the most stunning views I have ever had the privilege of seeing. While summers may be short the days seem to never end with midnight sunsets.
When our friends Zack & Ana Lucia reached out about visiting us, we were so excited to show them all the special little things this island has to offer. I knew they were big campers and one thing Kodiak truly is, is a camper's paradise. Along with camping and hiking, we got to show them the famous Kodiak brown bear and take them on the most classic summer activity, fishing for salmon.
These two wanted views, and the views on pyramid, INCREDIBLE. Ana Lucia is a photographer herself and I wanted to make sure she got the best of Alaska. Pyramid (pictured below) is no easy hike and definitely not for the weak of heart, especially if the end goal is to smile and feel cute for a whole photo session at the top. I have summited quite a few times, and every single time I said to myself, if I can find a couple that would hike up here for photos, I would be in photographer's heaven. So, thank you Zack and Ana Lucia for making my dreams come true!
It's seems so wild to me how there are places in this world that are seemingly so empty. No buildings, no structure, no telephone poles, no cell phone service. The best part is reaching the summit and looking out as far as your eyes can see and realizing how small you are in this big beautiful world. How quiet and still nature is when you take out all the extra distractions. How lucky we are to live here. How lucky we are to have the health to hike to such beautiful views.
